The mission of the Central Valley High School Counseling Program is to provide a comprehensive, developmental counseling program addressing the academic, career and personal/social growth of all students. In partnership with other educators, parents or guardians and the community, school counselors advocate to maximize student potential, academic achievement and preparedness for success in a global society.

Hello! My name is Shannon Istik and I’ve been a school counselor at Central Valley High School since 2016. I've had the privilege of supporting students in their academic, career, and social/emotional development. I attended Duquesne University, earning both a B.A. in Psychology and an M.S. Ed. in School Counseling. I am also a National Certified Counselor (NCC).

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my husband and two children, traveling, and reading.

Hello! My name is Rachael Pintar and I’ve been a school counselor at Central Valley High School since 2021. My goal is to help support students in their academic, career, and social/emotional development. I earned my B.S. in Rehabilitation and Human Services from Penn State in 2017, and went on to complete my M.Ed. in School Counseling at Duquesne University in 2020. I am also a National Certified Counselor (NCC).

Outside of school, I enjoy exercising, traveling, watching sports, and spending time at home with my husband and our dog, Honey.
