Flexible Instruction Days (FID)

The Flexible Instructional Day (FID) Program was created by the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) to provide public schools with an alternate approach to delivering instruction if a circumstance arises that prevents instruction in a customary manner. These circumstances may include, but are not limited to: an epidemic, a hazardous weather condition, or even damage to a school building.  

The purpose of this letter is to communicate the delivery of Flexible Instructional Days in the Central Valley School District for the 2026-27 school year, in lieu of snow days.  The district plans to implement synchronous instructional delivery methods through the use of district-owned iPads.  Instruction and workflow will be delivered through Google Meet, Zoom, and/or Google Classroom. If you lack internet access, please contact the building principal as soon as possible to avoid a delay in your child’s education.

FID Days will be announced through ParentSquare, the district website, and the local media. Should a snow day occur, students will be required to log on to Google Meet via Google Classroom.  They will attend each class period and follow their daily schedule.  Attendance will be taken each period.  The technology support team will provide technology assistance to students and parents using the Google Form on the parent-student support site located on the district website. 

High School students are to log in at 9:20 AM.

Middle School Students are to log in at 10:00 AM

Elementary students are to log in at 11:15 AM.

All students will follow a 2-hour delay bell schedule.

Students are expected to:

• Engage in the instructional activities presented and required by the teachers
• Complete the required instructional tasks or activities
• Communicate with teachers as needed
• Communicate any wellness concerns to educators so that support can be 

provided for the student and/or the family. 

Snow days that are currently embedded in the district calendar for the 2026-2027 school year will be days off for staff and students.  If needed, the district will continue to utilize two-hour delays in the same fashion that it always has.  Please contact your child’s building principal with any questions.
